Amelia McCombie
Amelia grew up with both parents dedicated practitioners of Ashtanga Yoga. From as young as 3 she has memories of waking up early and lying in the yoga room dozing to the sound of their breath as they went through their practice.
In her teens Amelia went through a challenging period dealing with moments of depression and an eating disorder. Amelia can now find gratitude for this time as it put her on a new path, where finding peace and more ease in her mind and therefore her life became her number one priority. Amelia’s yoga practice and dedication to The Work of Byron Katie (workshops offered at Easwest) are the two practices that supported her to work through these hard times, unraveling stressful stories and beliefs to find a real sense of love for herself, her body and her life.
Amelia’s passion is to share these practices with others, as they have had such a profound impact on her life.
Amelia completed her 200hr teacher training in 2014 and in 2017 she completed her 300hr teacher training with Noah Maze and also became a co owner of Eastwest (alongside Sheryn and Kirsty). Amelia’s primary practice is now Ashtanga Yoga and in 2018 she began a 3 year training with her Teacher Dena Kingsberg.
Over this training Amelia goes to Byron Bay for 3 months each year to immerse full time in her practice and studies of Yoga. Through this process Amelia has fallen in love with traditional Yoga Philosophy and Practices and will often incorporate Philosophy, Pranayama (breath work) and Mantra (chanting) into her classes at Eastwest.
Amelias classes are steady and dynamic with an emphasis on turning the attention inwards, connecting to yourself and your body, and focusing on the breath to bring more stillness to the mind.
