Kirsty van de Geer
Kirsty’s passion for movement stems from her early involvement in dance and gymnastics throughout her childhood and into her early twenties, where she found herself teaching dance and gymnastics for a number of years in Singapore.
On her return to New Zealand, her creative nature led to an almost 20 year career working in the art department of the film and television industry.
After the birth of her two children, combined with the difficulty of maintaining long days on sets, Kirsty sought refuge through yoga and began to look at life through a different lens.
After twelve plus years of dedicated practise, and experiencing first hand the healing benefits to both her physical health and mind, Kirsty made the decision to dedicate the next stage of her life to sharing her love of yoga with others.
After completing her initial 200 hours, she was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to teach in her home studio and mentored by Nikki Harris, at East West Yoga.
Kirsty has over 500 hours training in Yin yoga and Vinyasa Yoga combined. Some of her teachers include Amy Ippolitti, Jo Phee and Tara Judelle.
She is a compassionate teacher, who crafts thoughtful sequencing with a focus on functional movement, in both Vinyasa and Yin yoga. Her passion for movement and yoga philosophy will encourage students to deepen their understanding of both their bodies and themselves.
Kirsty co-owns East West Yoga with the support and encouragement of her family and co owners Amelia and Sheryn.
