Lou Empson

The first Bikram yoga class Lou took was here at East West back in 2014. What drew her to the practice was the intensity of it. She was in awe that one minute you weren’t sure you had the energy to peel yourself off the mat and the next, you were bounding out of the studio with an enthusiasm for life you never knew you had. In 2018 after 4 years of almost daily practice, and the learned ability to make any conversation turn to one about yoga, she knew she had to go to teacher training. The 2 things Lou loves most about a Bikram style class is that the set sequence frees up a little more space in the mind to allow oneself to really focus the thoughts inward; and that it teaches compassion, for ourselves and for others. The struggle is real! Passionate about yoga not only as a physical practice but as a philosophy, Lou intends to remain a student of yoga for the rest of her life and hopes more trainings are in her near future. Lou’s teaching style is calm and steady, with a focus on technical cues that offer different ways of viewing the postures so that you can find what works best for you.
